This is a comprehensive workshop covering all aspects of aquaponics and controlled environment agriculture. Our 3-day workshop is intended for anyone seriously considering getting into aquaponic food production, or those already doing aquaponics who want to learn more about the technology. Aquaponics 101 Trainng

 

The Aquaponics Institute is once again providing another amazing opportunity for beginners to learn about aquaponics. During the full day Aquaponics 101 training, novice farmers and enthusiasts will be led by knowledgeable instructors who will cover aquaponics basics and beyond. Leave YouTube and questionable internet tutorials behind and tour Sahib’s Urban Farm to learn about more than a dozen different systems and methods. The Aquaponics Institute team specializes in numerous areas and brings a wide range of aquaponics experience to share.

Free Aquaponics Tours in Your Community

The Aquaponics Association is pleased to announce an excellent opportunity for local communities across the country to learn about aquaponics during Earth Week, April 15–22. The 2013 Tour de Tanks is a member participant-based event showcasing thriving aquaponic gardens and farms from coast to coast. These free tours are open to the public for one week and will demonstrate a wide variety of systems including counter top, backyard, mid-sized and commercial.

Green Acre will be hosting tours on Saturday, April 20th st at 9am and 11am.

A five-day, more in-depth course than the one-day seminar that teaches the fundamentals of aquaponic systems, tilapia biology and aquaculture. Students will learn the different options that exist setting up aquaponic systems and the principles that you need to know for efficient operation. Lots of invaluable hands-on training that will allow participants to get a feel of what it takes to be a successful aquaponics farmer.

One Day Training Seminar

Description
A one-day training seminar designed to teach the basics of raising tilapia and aquaponic plants in a naturally balanced, integrated culture system (aquaponics). Participants will learn about the basic needs and habits of tilapia and how they should be cared for and raised to marketable size. Participants will also learn how to use the wastewater from the fish to raise pesticide-free, nutritious healthy vegetables without soil.

Topics:

  • Basic characteristics, needs, habits, and advantages of Tilapia
  • Dos and Don’ts of raising Tilapia
  • Integrating hydroponics to Tilapia culture (aquaponics)
  • Building and managing a small backyard or demonstration sized system

Training center is on a 10 acre site in the hills of Central Florida. It is located about 50 minutes north of the Tampa Florida International Airport.

UWSP Introduction to Aquaponics Course

 

UWSP / Nelson and Pade – Introduction to Aquaponics 3-credit University course, Spring 2013

UW-Stevens Point’s Continuing Education program, Department of Biology and Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility have partnered with Nelson and Pade Inc. to offer a full semester course, Introduction to Aquaponics. It is available as either a two credit or three credit course. All lectures and discussions take place online The three credit option includes a 3-day lab session at Nelson and Pade, Inc’s demonstration greenhouse in montello, WI

The Spring, 2013 Course begins Feb 27, 2013

 The course is open to students at UWSP as well as students from other colleges and universities through UWSP Continuing Education. Registration is through UWSP Continuing Education Office.
